[From Doo Wop (That Thing) – Song by Lauryn Hill (1998)]
Preach! This is what I say every time I hear this song (LOL!). In this song, Lauryn Hill speaks to both men and woman. This line came from the first verse when speaking to a woman trying to teach her a thing or two about self-respect. I’ll let you hear the song for yourself, but the theme was mostly about self-worth and self-respect. I love this line though because this can be applied to many things. For example:
Think highly of yourself and don’t settle for less than you deserve
Always remember that your words and thoughts are powerful. How we perceive things are often how they will play out. If you continue to think negatively of yourself, your actions will follow. If a gem had the choice, do you think it would settle for a string of yarn or a shiny chain or ring? Okay, so why are you stuck in that relationship when you know you deserve better? Why are you working harder for a company than they do their employees? Realize your worth and go after what you feel you deserve!
Don’t sell yourself short
Someone recently told me that there’s a fine line between arrogance and highlighting your skills and abilities. While this may be true, there’s nothing wrong with being proud of your successes without portraying them in a narcissistic manner (LOL!). Toot your own horn if nobody else can do it for you. Don’t humble yourself too much! I love when my clients discover their inner gem! And I want to hear about it all, from finally owning your own home to becoming the #1 Bestseller in 20 countries!
Don’t let your own negative thoughts keep you stuck at the bottom when you should be reaching for the top. Realize your worth and the potential is endless. There is a gem in the middle of every rock; schedule a free consultation today and let’s find yours!
